 FAR25.853 Flame Penetration Test-Introduction
This test uses a kerosene burner to directly ignite the lining material placed on the steel angle.
 FAR25.853 flame penetration test - test method
The test includes ceilings and side panels, and the test pieces are installed vertically or horizontally on steel angles. The ignition source is a kerosene burner, which applies flame.
Test the following items:
- Whether there is flame penetration
- temperature rise
 

Material flame retardant testing, fire testing – other relevant standards

  • standard: ABD 0031 - airbus fire testing – flame, smoke and toxicity

  • standard smoke test: BSS7238 fire testing to smoke density

  • standard toxicity test: BSS7239 fire testing to toxicity

  • standard smoke density: ASTM E 662 fire testing to Smoke Density

 

Far 25.853 Test Method – Combustion Performance Test 

  • Vertical burning test is conducted in accordance with 14 FAR 25.853 b(4)), (App. F to part 25 part I § (a), 12-second vertical burning test and 60-second vertical burning test

  • density test performed in accordance with 14 FAR 25.853 (d), (App. F to part 25, part V)  

  • heat release test is conducted in accordance with 14 FAR 25.853 (d), Appendix F, Part IV  

  • seat in accordance with 14 FAR 25.853 (c, App.F to part II)  

  • Horizontal combustion test performed in accordance with 14 FAR 25.853 b(2,3), (App. F to part 25 part I § (a),(1)  

  • rack fire test is conducted in accordance with 14 FAR 25.855 (App. F to part III)  

  • 45° combustion test 14 FAR 25.853 (b), (App. F to part 25, part I § (6)) performed
