BS 476-22 Fire resistance testing - Non-load-bearing construction materials - Overview of the standard:

  • BS 476-22 is mainly used to evaluate the fire resistance of non-load-bearing building materials under high temperature conditions. It is mainly used for the flame resistance test of vertical partitions, partition walls and glazed building materials, as well as the flame resistance test of some fully partitioned, partially partitioned or non-partitioned door and window products and roller shutters.

  • BS 476-22 describes procedures for determining the fire resistance of non-load-bearing elements subject to the conditions of heat and pressure specified in BS 476-20 during building construction. This section applies to vertical partitions, fully insulated, partially insulated and non-insulated vertical door casings and shutter assemblies (except in ducts incorporating fire dampers), membranes to ceilings, and glazed elements.
