What is the Wind Tunnel Test Rig


Used to simulate airflow around objects, the wind tunnel test rig assesses aerodynamic properties by controlling air velocity and measuring forces like lift and drag. It provides data on pressure distribution, flow behavior, and turbulence, crucial for optimizing design in fields like aerospace and automotive engineering.


This is a suction type direct current wind tunnel. The air volume is adjusted by the damper at the outlet of the fan, and the air is sucked in from the suction port, and then passes through the inlet section, rectification section, contraction section, rectangular test section, variable diameter section, circular test section, measurement section, expansion section, fan and so on.

Main performance parameters:


1. It adopts computer control, Labview equipment and instrument special development software, rigorous interface and high degree of automation. It adopts a complete set of advanced digital real-time data measurement and acquisition system and automatically develops data analysis and processing software, automatically cycles the experimental program, and generates tables and records in real time. There is enough storage capacity for users to use, and humanized design.


1.2 The air temperature at the inlet and outlet is measured with a mesh resistance thermometer, and the average value is calculated from the temperatures at 4 points.


1.3 Air flow: measured by calibrated pitot tube and inclined micromanometer.


1.4 Air pressure: measured by micro differential pressure gauge;

2. Inhalation section: The horn-shaped straight-way suction method is adopted, the horn-shaped opening is 1500mm, the length is 500mm, and the horn-shaped maximum is 1920mm;


2.3 Rectification section: a rectification network composed of several layers of wire mesh, which can divide the large-scale vortex into small-scale vortices. The small-scale vortex can quickly decay in the stable section, thereby reducing the turbulence of the airflow, especially the fluidity at the curved end of the shaft. The rectification device makes the energy loss of the airflow with high velocity large, and the energy loss of the airflow with low velocity is small, so as to make the airflow velocity distribution uniform. Specifications: 1500*1500mm square, length 1000mm.


2.4 Contraction section: a smooth transitional pipe connecting the rectification section and the stabilization section is the contraction section. The contraction section accelerates the airflow in the rectification section evenly and then enters the stable section, which helps to improve the uniformity of the airflow in the test section and reduce the degree of turbulence. The square 1500mm is converted into 600mm, and the angle is 45 degrees;


2.5 Rectangular test section 1: rectangular 600*600mm, length 1000mm;


2.6 Variable diameter section: from a square 600*600mm to a circular pipe with a diameter of 500mm;


2.7 Circular test section: diameter 500mm, length 1000mm


2.8 Measuring section: diameter 500mm, length 1000mm. Measure temperature, pressure, flow, wind speed and other measurements.


2.9 Diffuser section: expanded from 500mm in diameter to 800mm in diameter, allowing the airflow to be discharged into the atmosphere at a lower speed to reduce the energy loss of the airflow.


2.10 Stabilizing section: diameter 800mm, length 1000mm;

2.12 Wind tunnel design requirements:


2.12.1 Test section: divided into two test sections, the front end is a rectangular test section with a size of 600mm*600mm, and the back section is a circular 500mm;


2.12.2 Total length: about 8000mm. The widest part of the equipment is 1920mm at the entrance section, and the height is 2300mm;
