What is the ASTM E1354 Cone Calorimeter?


The ASTM E1354 Cone Calorimeter is a specialized testing device used to measure the heat release rate, ignition time, and other combustion characteristics of materials under controlled conditions. In this test, a sample is exposed to a radiant heat source in a conical-shaped chamber, allowing for the evaluation of how materials behave when subjected to fire.


Compliance: ISO 5660-1 and -2, ASTM E1354, ASTM E 1740, ASTM E1550, ASTM D5485, ASTM D6113, NFPA 271, NFPA 264, CAN ULC 135, BS 476 test standard。


Main technical parameters


Radiation cone
Rated power 4kw, radiation intensity 0-50kw / m2, equipped with three thermocouples to measure temperature.
Radiation shielding layer
Made of non water cooled 6 mm stainless steel with a total thickness of no more than 12 mm.
Radiation control
The radiation control system can be properly adjusted to keep the temperature of radiation cone thermocouple within ± 10 ℃ of the preset value.

Specimen mounting frame

Flue gas treatment system
A strong exhaust system is adopted. The machine is equipped with a strong exhaust fan. After the test is completed, the exhaust fan system will be started to exhaust the waste gas out of the room for centralized purification to meet the national emission standards.
