The Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI) Chamber is a testing device used to determine the minimum concentration of oxygen required to support the combustion of a material. In this test, a sample is placed in a vertical chamber, and the oxygen and nitrogen levels are adjusted until the material can no longer sustain a flame. The result, known as the Limiting Oxygen Index, indicates the material’s flammability and is expressed as a percentage of oxygen in the gas mixture.
