It is mainly used to measure the combustion performance of plastic or plastic parts and non-metallic materials under the condition of 50W flame, burning horizontally or vertically and to determine the plastic combustion level.
In the context of the UL 94 flammability standard, "HBF" stands for "Horizontal Burning, Foamed material." The UL 94 standard is a widely recognized method for testing the flammability of plastic materials used in devices and appliances. The HBF rating specifically applies to horizontal burning tests for foamed materials, such as flexible and rigid foams.
Compliance:UL 94-2012; ASTM D635; V-0 V-1 V-2 vertical burning test of UL 94-2012; ASTM D3801; IEC 60695-11-10 standard requirements.
Purpose:
The HBF test evaluates the flammability of foamed materials by determining their ability to extinguish after being exposed to a flame.
Test Procedure:
1.A sample of the foamed material is placed horizontally and exposed to a flame for a specified duration.
2.The time taken for the material to extinguish and the extent of burning are measured.
3.The material is classified based on its burning rate and the distance the flame spreads.
Classification:
1.HBF (Horizontal Burning, Foamed): Indicates the material has a slow burning rate and can self-extinguish under specific conditions.
2.HF-1 (Horizontal Flame, Level 1): A higher classification indicating better flammability performance than HBF, where the material self-extinguishes with minimal burning.
3.HF-2 (Horizontal Flame, Level 2): A lower classification than HF-1 but better than HBF, where the material may allow some flaming particles to fall.
1.Scope of application:
It is mainly used to measure the combustion performance of plastic or plastic parts and non-metallic materials under the condition of 50W flame, burning horizontally or vertically and to determine the plastic combustion level.
2.Main performance parameters:
2.1 Combustion box:
2.2.Box: volume ≥ 0.5m³, it’s processed and formed by CNC machine tools, and the arc shape is beautiful and generous.
2.3 The top of the box is equipped with a strong extraction system, which discharges the exhaust gas to the outdoors when the test is completed. During the test, the system was stopped.
2.4 Burning torch:
2.5 The Bunsen burning power of this torch is 50W, which fully meets the requirements of ASTM D5207.
2.6 The inner diameter of the crater: Ф9.5±0.1mm. Steam outlet: Ф0.9±0.03mm. The height of the nozzle from the air inlet is 100±10mm. It meets the requirements of ASTM D5025.
2.7 Torch angle: horizontal is 90 degrees. Vertical is 45 degrees.
2.8 Flame height: 15mm~45mm, it can be adjusted arbitrarily.
